Classroom lessons are updated as of 5.01.23
This is my 7th year with the MHASD and I love being a Mount Horeb Viking! I teach all K-2 classes guidance once a week for 30 minutes. These lessons are aligned with the Wisconsin Developmental Guidance Model standards, and can be found on this webpage. We use curriculum from various resources; Second Step, We Thinkers, and Welcoming Schools are some of the curriculums your student will learn from. Below you will find the scope & sequence of guidance lessons; please know many of these topics are discussed continuously throughout the school year, and are rarely a one time lesson/topic. Here are some books your child may hear in guidance class; Welcoming Schools books Tentative lesson objectives and topics are planned, however, student needs arise throughout the school year and lessons may change and/or shift as needed. When I am not in the classroom I facilitate small groups on a variety of topics; family change, confidence building, worry warriors, friendship, problem solving, and self regulation. I also meet with students individually through caregiver, staff, or self referral.
School is more than learning academics, and one of the things I enjoy about working at the ELC/PC is that all staff teach students positive behaviors in all school settings. As a Nurtured Heart Approach trainer, I believe in the value of building children's inner wealth. When families and educators work together as a team, a student's academic, career, and personal/social skills can thrive in and outside of the classroom.
