The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Who is Encouraged to Apply:
Second semester sophomores and juniors who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

3.75 or higher cumulative grade point average

Rigorous course load
-
Exceptional qualities of leadership, character, and service in school and community experiences
-
Active involvement in at least 2 athletics programs/student activities or a minimum of 15 hours of volunteer community service
-
Exercise leadership in the school and community
-
Strong character and leadership references provided by MHHS teachers
-
Strong service reference provided by community member
-
No Code of Conduct or law violations during their MHHS career
-
Current NHS members do not need to reapply.
Application Timeline: Applications are due in mid-March, applicants are notified of their acceptance status in early April, and the Induction ceremony takes place in late April-early May, 2024.
Membership carries a responsibility of continued service learning throughout the year (10 hours per semester) and attendance at monthly meetings. New members will attend NHS meetings in the spring; service learning for new inductees begins in September.
