Welcome to the Intermediate Center! The IC is the upper elementary school for the Mount Horeb Area School District and is home to grades 3-5.

At the IC, all students are placed in a homeroom with a classroom teacher, and our class sizes range from 20-24 students. In the classroom, students receive instruction in the core content areas (literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies) as well as participate in many daily activities such as Morning Meeting, read aloud, and snack. Each class is also partnered with the neighboring class allowing for teachers to collaborate and share students. In order to best meet student needs, partner teachers may choose to team teach, switch groups for different subject areas, or work as one large group to do a special activity.

To promote a well-rounded education, students go to a variety of specials where they receive instruction from our Related Arts teachers. During the week, all students have one session of art, library and guidance; two or three sessions of music; and three sessions of physical education. In 3rd grade, students also have one session of health class. In 4th and 5th grades, students have the choice to join our orchestra classes. In 5th grade, library class for two quarters and health class for two quarters. During the day, students also have two 25-minute recesses as well as a 25-minute lunch period.

At the IC, we have a phenomenal staff who are passionate about student academic growth as well as overall student well-being. We value the relationships we develop with students and strive to partner with families as much as we can. The IC welcomes all identities, and we spend time each day building our school community to be inclusive and compassionate. We believe ALL students belong here!
